Bosch is good for the environment as well
Emission standards and limit values are becoming ever more stringent. The trend with regard to emission values clearly shows: Lambda sensors have long since become indispensable if emissions are to be effectively reduced. Many modern vehicles are normally fitted with at least two lambda sensors which monitor one another and keep a check on operation of the catalytic converter. That is the key to future emission reduction. Lambda sensors guarantee an optimum air/fuel mixture. On this basis the 3-way catalytic converter reduces the exhaust gas constituents such as hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides by up to 99 %. Compliance with even the most stringent emission limit values can thus be ensured. With the development of planar lambda sensors, Bosch made a further important contribution towards more ecological engines: These sensors nowadays attain their operating temperature in less than five seconds to ensure maximum control standards even in the emission-intensive cold starting phase. Never before has there been a more effective method of exhaust treatment. |
